Google Pixel 4a set to release in India on October 17


Just after the announcements of Google Pixel 5 and Google Pixel 4a 5G smartphones, Google on twitter has confirmed that they will commence Pixel 4a sales in India on October 17th. However there is no word about the smartphone price yet. Also this is not going to be a 5G capable smartphones like its bigger sibling Pixel 4a 5G.

Google Pixel 4a will be available to purchase from Indian online retailer Flipkart. The smartphone price is set at $349 in the US for the single 6GB+128GB model. We should pretty soon get announcement banners on the Flipkart website as well. The smartphone will be offered in single Jet Black color options.

Users in India who are looking for an android smartphone alternative other than Chinese brands and Samsung smartphones, they can definitely wait for the upcoming Google Pixel device.

Google Pixel 4a specifications and features

We can say the most compelling reason to buy a Google Pixel is because of clean Android experience and Pixel’s camera. Pixel devices tend to get all major and security updates first. The OS is bloat free, smooth and less cluttered than other versions of Android. Also despite having a single main camera module Pixel’s camera is capable of beating multiple camera setups of flagship devices because of the unique software algorithm Google puts in their Pixel devices. For Pixel 4a, Google has promised 3 years of software updates. It packs 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage to accommodate most users. The processor used here is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 730G, which is a fast enough processor of day-to-day use. Pixel 4a packs a decent 3140mAH battery, which when combined with a power efficient Snapdragon 730G processor, should end up with a full day of device usage. The battery can be charged using an 18W fast charging adapter.

Pixel 4a rear camera is a single 12.2MP camera with flash housed in rounded corner square, while 12MP camera on the front.

The device body is made of plastic with the fingerprint sensor on the back. There is a room for 3.5mm headphone jack, stereo speakers. On the back it houses the main single camera module along with flash.

On the front there is a 5.8-inch 1080p display with a hole-punch camera on the top-left side of the screen. For the first time Google has implemented a hole-punch display. This has allowed the screen to go closer to the edges. The screen is an OLED display which is great to have at this price point.

Phone also packs features like car crash detection, speech-to-text conversion during phone calls.
