Apple iPad Air 2020 features and Specifications

As stated earlier, the new iPad Air is powered by Apple’s newest A14 Bionic processor. The A14 processor is the industry first processor based on a 5nm chip manufacturing process. It is said to fit 11.8 billion transistors using this new fabrication technique. Apple is promising upto 40% better CPU performance and 30% faster GPU performance than the previous A12 generation. The new A14 is also boasting more significant performance jumps such as the new 16-core neural engine which now sports up to 11TOPs inferencing throughput, which is over double the 5TOPs of the A12 and 83% more than the estimated 6TOPs of the A13 neural engine.

The new iPad Air has a 10.9 inch 2360×1640 pixels Liquid Retina display which is fully laminated with an anti-reflective coating. It supports the P3 wide colour gamut and Apple’s True Tone colour adjustment feature. For the first time, Apple has dropped its proprietary Lightning Cable connector to use a USB-C connector in the new iPad Air. Apple explains that the new connector allows for much faster transfer speeds between more devices. The 20W Type-C charger and cable are included in the box.

On the front iPad Air have a 7MP selfie camera with 1080p video recording while the rear 12MP camera is the same as the iPad Pro with focus pixels and stabilized 4K video recording. The new iPad Air will be compatible with 2nd Gen Apple Pencil, Apple’s Magic Keyboard and other third-party keyboards featuring integrated trackpad.
