AMD today has announced its two series of mobile processors. This series will be based on AMD’s Zen architecture and is meant for thinner and lighter Chromebook designs.
Quick features highlights as claimed by AMD
- Compared to previous-gen AMD Chromebooks, the higher-end Ryzen 7 3700C processor can deliver up to 160% faster web browsing performance, up to 88% faster office productivity performance, and up to 216% better performance for multitasking and content creation.
- Overall Ryzen 3000 C-series chips boasts upto 212% better performance for multitasking and content creation, compared to the previous gen of AMD Chromebooks.
- The two new AMD 3000 A-series chips will be chosen for entry-level Chromebooks.
- Both series of processors feature integrated AMD Radeon Vega Graphics which according to AMD is “the most powerful graphics available in a Chromebook”.

The new Ryzen 3000 C and Athlon 3000 C series processors are NOT based on AMD’s latest mobile architecture such as the 7nm based Ryzen 4000 series. Among these new releases the Ryzen AMD Ryzen 3 3250C, AMD Athlon Gold 3150C and AMD Athlon Silver 3050C are based on 14nm Zen which is an architecture released by AMD in 2017. While the other two, the AMD Ryzen 7 3700C and AMD Ryzen 5 3500C are based on 12nm Zen+ architecture released in 2018 by AMD.
Chromebooks powered by the new AMD C-Series lineup are expected to hit the market in the coming months.
