AMD and Intel recently are tackling head to head in CPU market with AMD recently firing back at Intel with its 3 new XT series Ryzen 3000 processors.
- AMD Ryzen™ 9 3900XT
- AMD Ryzen™ 7 3800XT
- AMD Ryzen™ 5 3600XT
These 3 desktop processors are based on AMD’s latest Zen 2 architecture with 7nm chip fabrication process. There has been an increase of extra 100 to 200 MHz standard boost frequency while number of cores, threads, L3 Cache capacity and TDP ratings remains same. AMD claims all these processor have improved energy efficiencies. Similar to their predecessors, all these processors need discrete graphics card.
Below table show detailed specifications and comparison to their siblings (source: AMD):
One thing to note here is AMD doesn’t include a stock cooler with the Ryzen 9 3900XT and Ryzen 7 3800XT. They recommend a minimum of a 280mm AIO watercooler (or equivalent air cooling) to unlock the best performance. That adds to the overall cost of the chips and forgoes AMD’s standard practice of providing a cooler with all models except the halo 16-core Ryzen 9 3950X, which curiously did not receive the XT treatment. The Ryzen 5 3600XT comes with a Wraith Spire cooler.
These processors are yet to launch in Indian markets with prices rumored to be around their ‘X’ variant siblings. We will be closely monitoring the launch and their price comparison on popular reseller sites in India.
