South Korean giant LG Electronics has unveiled a new way of experiencing clean and fresh air for breathing. LG PuriCare Wearable Air Purifier is an advanced mask that can supply fresh air through replaceable filters and dual fans that can run on three different speed levels. The mask also has an inbuilt 820mAh battery that LG claims to run up to eight hours in low mode and two hours on high. Company claims that this smart mask can help address the short supply of disposable masks.
The LG PuriCare Wearable Air Purifier will be showcased in LG’s IFA 2020 event and details about the pricing will be revealed during the same virtual exhibition. The smart mask will be available starting in the fourth quarter in select markets.
The PuriCare employs two H13 HEPA filters, similar to the filters used in the company’s home air purifier products. The dual fans assist people to take in clean, filtered air. LG has also employed patented Respiratory Sensors, that can detect the cycle and volume of the wearer’s breath and adjusts the dual three-speed fans accordingly. The fans thus can automatically adjust to assist air intake and slow down to reduce resistance when exhaling.
For long hours of usage, LG PuriCare has been designed ergonomically after extensive facial shape analysis. Thus minimizing air leakage around the nose and chin.
The LG PuriCare comes with a case that has three purposes. Firstly, it is equipped with UV-LED lights to kill harmful germs. Secondly, it can charge the mask in-built battery and lastly it can send notifications to the LG ThinQ mobile app whenever there is a need for air filters change. Every component of the smart mask is eco-friendly and is replaceable and recyclable.
“At a time when consumers are seeking ways to make life safer and more convenient, it’s important that we’re able to offer solutions that add measurable value.” – said Dan Song, president of LG Electronics Home Appliance & Air Solution Company.
