Microsoft on Monday has announced that they have come to an agreement to acquire ZeniMax Media, the parent company of Bethesda Softworks. Bethesda is one of the largest game developers and publishers in the world and has published famous game franchises such as The Elder Scrolls, Fallout, Wolfenstein, DOOM, Dishonored, Prey, Quake, Starfield. Microsoft will be adding these franchises to Xbox Game Pass for console and PC. After this acquisition, Microsoft will grow from 15 to 23 creative studio teams.
“This is an awesome time to be an Xbox fan. In the last 10 days alone, we’ve released details on our two new consoles which go on pre-order tomorrow, launched cloud gaming in Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, and now we’re making another investment in the most critical part of our strategy: the games,” said Phil Spencer, executive vice president, Gaming at Microsoft.
This deal comes after Microsoft announcement of their next gen gaming consoles Xbox series X and Xbox series S, whose pre orders are starting on September 22 at 9AM in India. These consoles will be available to book online from Amazon, Flipkart and Reliance Digital. The price of Xbox Series X is Rs 49,990 and Xbox Series S Digital Edition series is Rs 34,990. Xbox Series X is claimed to offer 4K gaming at 60fps and Series S will offer 1440p resolution at 60fps. Also Series X will have disc drive included while Series S will be all Digital with no disc drive.
