Co-WIN app to be used for COVID-19 India vaccination program

On Sunday, the Drug Control General of India (DCGI) approved two COVID-19 vaccines for use including the COVISHIELD and COVAXIN. In order to start and track the vaccination in a systematic way, the health ministry of India has developed the Co-WIN app to monitor real-time COVID vaccine delivery to the citizens. The Health Secretary Mr. Rajesh Bhushan announced that through the app anyone can register themselves to get vaccinated. It was announced that the first phase of the vaccination would include frontline workers and people who are above the age of 50. 

Currently common people cannot register for the upcoming vaccine sessions because the Co-Win app is NOT available to download from app stores and you should also refrain from downloading any other apps claiming to provide similar benefits as Co-Win. Once available, anyone then can register themselves or their families by uploading a photo identity such as Aadhar, driving license, PAN card.

Made in India game FAU-G to be launched on 26th January

Ever since PUBG mobile is banned in India, there is a constant lookout for its perfect alternative game by Indian mobile gamers. Fearless and United Guards (FAU-G),which is a ‘Made in India’ mobile game developed by Bangalore based nCORE games studio,  is all set to release on January 26th on Indian Republic Day. The game was first announced in September 2020 by Bollywood star Akshay Kumar. Akshay also announced that 20 percent of game revenue will be donated to government’s fund-raising initiative Bharat Ke Veer. The new game teaser released on 3rd January shows Indian soldiers combat with enemy troops probably with PLA soldiers at LAC in Ladakh. The trailer also includes the title tracker ‘Fauji’ in Hindi language. As of now the game description doesn’t show what kinds of game mode it has to offer to the players.

AmazonBasics Fire TV Edition launched in India, price starts at Rs 29,999

AmazonBasics, a brand which is privately owned by Amazon, has launched its first-ever television. These televisions are launched in Indian market at a price of Rs 30000 for the 50 inch display and Rs 35000 for the 55 inch TV. Both the smart TVs are powered by Amazon’s Fire TV OS and come with Ultra-HD LED screens, Dolby Vision and HDR Support. The display has a 178 degrees angle. The TVs also house 20W speakers with Dolby Atmos support. Other features include built-in Alexa voice controls, DTH set-top box integration and popular streaming apps like Prime video, netflix, hotstar.

After Rollable, now Invisible and Bendable TVs by LG

After announcing rollable OLED TV in Oct 2020, LG is going to showcase their 2 latest innovations in televisions. The first one being a new concept bendable OLED screen. This new TV will have a 48 inch 4K screen that becomes curved from sides at the push of a button. It will allow viewers to indulge themselves in more immersive experiences such as during gaming. This screen will be based on the Cinematic Sound OLED or CSO technology and can provide a maximum refresh rate of 120Hz.

The second concept presented by LG is for transparent OLED display TVs. The company has designed a concept “Smart Bed” that would use a 55-inch transparent screen as a TV that effectively becomes invisible.

It is possible that both of these new concept televisions by LG will be unveiled during the Consumer Electronic Show 2021.

Foldable iPhone from Apple?

Apple also seems to be entering into the foldable device market. According to recent reports, two of Apple’s foldable prototype devices have passed the durability test at the Foxconn factory in China. It is also of note that Apple has patented a device with two separate displays that can be brought together to create a single foldable device with a hinge. The devices are said to be unique and feature a folding mechanism similar to the Galaxy Z Fold 2 and the Galaxy Z Flip. We can expect that a foldable iPhone will not emerge until late 2022 or 2023 at the earliest.

 

Surge in Bitcoin value continues

If you own bitcoins today then you must be very happy. World’s most popular virtual Cryptocurrency Bitcoin has achieved new records in which one coin crossed a value of Rs 25 lakhs on Monday. Thus Bitcoin has now surged around 80% since mid-march. While analysts from investment banking giant JPMorgan predicts Bitcoin Price could rise over 1.06 crores rupees in the long term.

Samsung Unpacked event on January 14 for Galaxy S21 series of smartphones

Samsung has started pre-registering interest from their customers for their upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event. The event which is scheduled on January 14th is expected to launch Samsung’s latest flagship smartphones: Galaxy S21, S21 Plus and S21 Ultra. This will be the first major launch event of smartphones this year. Interested people can watch the live stream on Samsung.com on January 14 at 8.00 pm IST.

Qualcomm launches affordable 5G chipset: Snapdragon 480

Another news is from smartphone chipmaker Qualcomm. Qualcomm doesn’t want to lag behind Mediatek who recently surpassed Qualcomm to become the biggest chipset vendor for smartphones. Mediatek’s recent top crowning is due to its aggressive push in the 5G market with their low budget Dimensity chipsets. Countering this, Qualcomm has launched their 5G capable Snapdragon 480 processor for budget phones. This will be the company’s first 4-series chipset with support for 5G. The new chipset will support both mmWave and sub-6Ghz bandwidths and will also be a big performance upgrade over to its predecessor Snapdragon 460.
