Anker Power Bank Fire Risk: What The Company Says
Anker has faced these recalls earlier but the proactive measure will surely give some comfort to the users. Here are the models that are affected by the defect:
– Anker 334 MagGo Battery (PowerCore 10K): Model number A1642
– Anker Power Bank: Model number A1647
– Anker MagGo Power Bank: Model number A1652
Anker says only a small number of batteries used in products sold from January 3, 2024 to September 17, 2024 are affected by the defect. The company has a detailed post here which tells you the next steps.
You can manually check the model number of your Anker power bank and return the same to the company if it matches with the name on the list and get a replacement by filling up a form. And yes, stop using them right away and store them in a safe location. Anker doesn’t sell its products officially in markets like India but if you have ever got it imported, make sure you follow this story.
And finally, the company also warns that people should not throw away these power banks as they could be a fire hazard and should be taken to authorised facilities to dispose of them.
