Google has finally lifted curtains from their upcoming 5G enabled smartphones: Google Pixel 5 and Pixel 4a 5G. The Google Pixel 5 will now become the flag bearer of Google’s top end smartphone while Google Pixel 4a 5G is a 5G version with improvements in hardware and software of the already launched Google Pixel 4a.
Price and availability
Google Pixel 5 and Google Pixel 4a 5G will NOT be available for sale in India. Both phones will be available in 5G markets – Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Japan, the UK and the US.
Pixel 4a 5G will start at $499 and Pixel 5 will cost $699.
Pixel 4a 5G sales will start in Japan on October 15 and to other countries from November. While Pixel 5 will be available across all 5G markets from October 15.
Customers buying any of the two smartphones will get membership of 3 months Google Stadia Pro, YouTube premium, 100GB of Google One cloud storage, as well as Play Pass and Play Points.
Google Pixel 5 and Google Pixel 4a 5G similarities
- Both smartphones have the same octa-core Snapdragon 765G processor chip and Adreno 620 GPU.
- Both smartphones have the same screen resolution.
- Both have single 128GB inbuilt storage with no option of storage expansion via microSD card.
- Both have 5G connectivity enabled.
- Both devices will be launched with Android 11 out of the box.
- Both devices have exactly the same front and rear camera setup: 12.2 MP f.1,7 with OIS/EIS + 16MP Ultra Wide f/2.2 107 degrees FoV in rear camera setup and a single 8MP f/2.0 aperture fixed focus front selfie camera.

- Pixel 4a 5G has a bigger 6.2 inch screen compared to 6.0 inch screen in Pixel 5.
- Pixel 4a 5G has a smaller 3885mAh battery compared to 4080mAh battery in Pixel 5.
- Gorilla Glass 6 protection is provided to display in Pixel 5 while Gorilla Glass 3 protection can be seen in Pixel 4a 5G.
- Pixel 5 will have a single variant of 8GB RAM and 128GB storage whereas Pixel 4a 5G packs 6GB RAM and 128GB storage.
- Pixel 5 doesn’t include a 3.5 mm audio jack.
