Google is introducing a few news ways to use Google Meet and Duo across a series on new devices to create a better meeting experience.
Google on Thursday has announced that they have plans to bring their consumer video chat app, Google Duo, to Android TV. It will be available as an app that can enable users to start video calls directly from their TV screen. A beta of Google Duo for Android TV will be released “in the coming weeks”.
“You can initiate one-to-one and group calls from the TV, and if your TV doesn’t have a camera built-in, you can simply plug in a USB camera.” – Google
On the other hand, Google has also enabled to cast meeting sessions from Google Meet directly to big screens with the help of Chromecast(2nd gen or later). The casting functionality also works on TVs with built-in Chromecasts and Nest displays.

How to enable casting?
Before you join
- Open your meeting using Google Calendar or the Meet app.
- Select Cast this meeting.
- In the Cast tab, select the Cast-enabled device you want to use.
During a meeting
- In the bottom right, select the 3-dot menu > Cast this meeting.
- In the Cast tab, select the Cast-enabled device you want to use.
Stop casting
- In the bottom right, select the 3-dot menu.
- Select Stop casting meeting.
