Entry level Gaming PC: Another Ryzen champion for gamers

Today we will be suggesting an entry level custom PC build with a focus on moderate Gaming performance coupled with lag free multitasking.
Starter Rulers:

  • Our budget is around 40000 INR.
  • Our budget excludes other peripherals such as external monitors, keyboards, mouse, UPS, headsets and Operating System license etc.

For this PC building, we need below necessary components:

1. CPU: For our build we are choosing AMD Ryzen 5 3400G has built in graphics processing, is a 4 core and 8 threads CPU with base clock of 3.7 GHz and turbo boost upto 4.2 GHz and is capable of handling multitasking and other CPU intensive applications. It is based on Ryzen’s latest 3rd generation Zen2 architecture but uses 12nm processor architecture rather than 7nm. All we can see it’s a upgraded version of Ryzen’s second generation Zen+ architecture CPUs.

2. CPU Cooler: For CPU cooler we are going with AMD Wraith Spire stock cooler which comes out of the box with Ryzen 5 3400G CPU. The cooler comes with pre-applied thermal paste which will keep the processor well within its temperature limits.

3. Motherboard: We will be selecting an AM4 socket based motherboard. Though there are a lot of options and various series which can support our chosen CPU, our budget will allow a decent B450 series motherboard. There are popular manufacturers such as MSI, Gigabyte, ASUS, Asrock which have a variety of B450 series motherboards in the range of 6500 to 14000 INR. But after a lot of research and comparison, we found Asrock B450 Pro4 motherboard an overall better motherboard than its counterparts. You can also go for Asrock B450m Pro4 whose price is slightly lower to our choice. The only difference we found was the form factor between two and B450 pro4 has 2 additional SATA 6 Gb/s ports.

4. RAM (Random Access Memory): We will be selecting 2 sticks of 8 GB DDR4 memories clocked at 3200 MHz speed. This will be sufficient for our gaming needs.

5. Graphics Card: Our custom built PC doesn’t include a discrete graphics card. This will significantly reduce our pricing while we still can play our favorite games.

Ryzen 5 3400G CPU has Radeon™ RX Vega 11 Graphics which have 11 graphics core count clocked at 1400 MHz. This allows us to play popular AAA tiles on low to medium graphics setting with decent frame rates. It’s performance has received Editor’s choice award at PCmag, who have tested it’s benchmark in different games as shown below:

6. SSD (Solid State Drive): We are choosing a 240GB M.2 SSD drive as our primary storage. Our operating system will be installed on it for fast boot-up, read and writes and we can install our frequently used applications, games for better lag free performance.

7. HDD (Hard Disk Drive): 1 TB of Hard Disk Drive will serve as secondary storage and can store our files such as videos, audios, images and other office related files.

8. PSU (Power Supply Unit): We will be selecting atleast 450W of power supply to provide a consistent supply to all our PC components.
For this purpose we have selected Corsair VS 450 power supply for this purpose. VS450 is a non-modular power supply and is a popular choice amongst PC users. Our recommendation is to go for atleast Bronze rated PSU unit to save some buck in your monthly electric bill.
9. Cabinet: Choosing a PC cabinet is all about personal choice. Some buyers like their cabinets wrapped around different RGB lighting, while some like it plain and simple. Some go for aesthetics while some go for robustness. We have selected an entry level ATX gaming cabinet, Antec NX 210. It is a Mid-Tower gaming case that comes pre-installed with 4 ARGB (3 x 120mm in front, 1 x 120 mm in back) fans with default lighting effects. It also has a full tempered glass side panel. One downside is this case doesn’t have a separate chamber for your PSU unit and is upside mounted.
With that being said, here is the prices of all components gathered around different popular Indian reseller websites. Please note these prices may vary from time to time and stock availability can also be a trouble sometime. However you can always go for similar alternatives for components such as RAM, PSU, SSD, and HDD:

At the time of comparison, Antec NX210 was not available at Amazon. Even if we add another 3100 INR for cabinet, grand total under Amazon column would go upto 44496 INR, which is slightly above our budget. All prices are listed as on 2nd July 2020 . But prices and stock also can vary. For some delivery regions there may be delivery charges applicable. During the time when the entire world is suffering from Covid-19 disease, the PC market has gone haywire. Stocks are less and prices are strange. So it’s better to research both the offline and online market before making any purchase decision.

Hope you like this article. Please let us know your thoughts on this selection of components for this custom built PC.
