Google today has launched a short-video creating platform for its vast YouTube community: YouTube Shorts.
YouTube Shorts feature will be first available in India as a beta which will include a new camera, a handful of editing tools that will be rolling out over the course of the next few weeks. Users don’t have to install any additional app since it can be directly access on YouTube mobile app homepage.
What is YouTube Shorts
YouTube Shorts lets you create 15 seconds vertical videos that are discoverable on the YouTube homepage. This new feature will be similar to creating videos on TikTok app. Users will have option to vary video speed and length of the videos alongwith some basic video editing tools. They can also add music to their videos. Users can directly record a new video or can upload an existing one from their phone gallery.
How to record videos on YouTube shorts
- Open YouTube app on your smartphone.
- Tap on the “+” icon to the middle of the bottom navigation bar.
- Select Video>Create a short video.
Users can also upload their videos from phone gallery. YouTube will be testing out a section on the homepage to highlight videos with hashtag #shorts entered by users in the title or description.
